FAQ
- How long should a YouTube title be?
- Search and suggested results show roughly the first 70 characters, and phones often fewer, so put the hook in the first 40 to 50. For Shorts and TikTok, under 50 reads best on the overlay.
- How long should a page title be for Google?
- About 50 to 60 characters. Google truncates by pixel width, around 580 pixels, so longer titles get cut with an ellipsis and sometimes rewritten.
- What does the score measure?
- Eight things that reliably separate clicked titles from skipped ones: length for the surface, a number, a hook word, a question or two-part structure, restrained caps and punctuation, no filler words, and the keyword near the front. It is a checklist, not a prediction of views.
- Should I A/B test titles?
- Yes, when the platform allows it. Score a few candidates here to drop the weak ones, then let YouTube's Test & Compare pick between the best two or three.
