What clipping pays per 1,000 views (and the caps that change the math)

Clipping campaigns pay a fixed rate per 1,000 views, and the median across 390 live Content Rewards campaigns is $1.25, with the top quarter at $2.00 or more (finder data, updated 25 Oct 2026, 6:08 am IST). What you actually take home also depends on the campaign's minimum payout, its maximum payout per clip, how much budget is left and the 10% creator fee.

What CPM means in clipping

CPM is the amount a campaign pays for every 1,000 views on an approved clip. Whop's Content Rewards guide says brands set how much they will pay per 1,000 views and a total campaign budget, and Whop pays the creator based on views after the brand approves the submission.

The basic formula is simple: earnings = (views / 1,000) x rate. A clip with 50,000 views on a campaign paying $1.25 earns 50 x $1.25 before fees. Content Rewards says it verifies views through the social platforms' APIs, so the count that matters is the one the platform reports, not a screenshot.

Rates spread out widely. The middle half of live campaigns sits between $1.00 and $2.00, the highest is $16.50, and 86% of campaigns pay at least $1 per 1,000 views.

Rates by platform

Many campaigns set a different rate for each platform, so the same clip can be worth more on one app than another. The table shows the live medians from the finder's hourly data. Check the campaign page for the exact rate on the platform you post to.

Minimum payout: the floor before a clip is reviewed

A campaign's minimum payout is the least a clip must earn before it goes to the brand for review. Whop's guide gives this example: with a $3 rate and a $6 minimum payout, only videos with at least 2,000 views enter the review queue, because $3 x 2 = $6.

For clippers, the minimum works like a view floor. Divide the minimum payout by the rate and multiply by 1,000 to get the views you need. A clip that never reaches that number is not reviewed, so it is not paid. Low-view clips on campaigns with a high minimum are the most common reason a busy week earns nothing.

Maximum payout per clip: the ceiling

The maximum payout caps how much one clip can earn, no matter how far it spreads. Whop's guide explains that the cap stops one viral video from using up the whole budget, and gives the example of a $3,000 maximum at a $3 rate: the clip stops earning at 1 million views even if it keeps growing.

The cap changes the math more than the rate does once a clip takes off. On YouTube, the median cap across live campaigns is $200. Divide a campaign's cap by its rate and multiply by 1,000 to see the view count where earning stops. Past that point, a new clip earns more than extra views on the old one.

Some campaigns also cap total earnings per creator, not just per clip. One Content Rewards listing, for example, states a $100 maximum per video and a $750 maximum per creator, so read the payout section of the brief as well as the headline rate.

Flat per-post, bonuses and pools

Not every campaign pays only by the view. The Content Rewards creators page lists three payment models: CPM, a flat amount per approved post, and retainers paid per cycle. The creator terms add pools, which split a fixed pot by counted views.

Each one changes the math in a different way. Per-post payouts are credited at approval and do not keep earning from views. A pool amount shown before the pool ends is an estimate, not guaranteed earnings, because your share shrinks as other clippers add views. Whop's guide also describes an optional flat fee bonus added to each approved CPM clip: with a $3 rate, a $10 flat fee and 2,000 views, a clip earns $16.

  • CPM: (views / 1,000) x rate, between the minimum and the cap.
  • Per post: a fixed amount per approved clip, no view pay.
  • Pool: your share of a fixed pot, based on counted views; estimates change until it closes.
  • Flat fee bonus: a fixed amount added on top of view pay for each approved clip.

Budget remaining and the 10% fee

A campaign can only pay what is left in its budget, so a good rate on a nearly empty campaign may pay less than a lower rate with money to spare. Live campaigns hold $1.07M of unpaid budget in total, and the typical campaign has 11 clippers competing for it.

The Content Rewards terms say unfunded CPM earnings are retried when funding allows, but there is no guarantee the brand will add funds, and pausing a campaign defers CPM funding until it resumes. The same terms set a flat 10% creator fee on every CPM and pool payout, so a clip that earns $20 on paper pays $18 before any Whop withdrawal fee.

Timing matters too. On CPM campaigns, an approved clip earns for 7 days, then the payout is held for 3 days, so views after the earning window do not add to that round.

Questions

How much does clipping pay per 1,000 views?

It depends on the campaign. Across 390 live Content Rewards campaigns, the median is $1.25 per 1,000 views and the top quarter pays $2.00 or more, per the finder's hourly data.

What is minimum payout in a clipping campaign?

It is the least a clip must earn before the brand reviews it. In Whop's example, a $3 rate with a $6 minimum means a clip needs 2,000 views to be reviewed and paid.

What does max payout per clip mean?

It is the most one clip can earn. In Whop's example, a $3,000 cap at a $3 rate stops a clip earning at 1 million views, so extra views after that pay nothing.

Does Content Rewards take a cut of CPM earnings?

Yes. The creator terms set a flat 10% creator fee on every CPM and pool payout. Whop withdrawal fees, if any for your method, are separate.

Which platform pays the most for clips?

Rates are set per campaign and often per platform. Right now the live medians are $1.50 on YouTube, $1.10 on TikTok and $1.25 on Instagram.
